A three-stage pipeline grounded in master-data-management canon: blocking to generate candidates, deterministic rules for exact email, exact phone and fuzzy name plus date of birth, then Fellegi–Sunter probabilistic scoring. High-confidence pairs merge themselves. Borderline calls go to your review queue.

Questions worth asking
Do you ever see my data?
No. There is no VerityGold server for it to reach. Records stay on your device and, if you leave sync on, in your own private iCloud database, which we cannot read.
What happens if a merge was wrong?
Every change is written to the lineage log with its rule, confidence and source, so you can see exactly what happened and undo it.
Do I need Apple Intelligence?
No. AI sharpens accuracy scoring, tie-breaks and natural-language queries, but the matching engine is deterministic and every feature falls back cleanly without it.
Can I get my data back out?
Always. Export a full-fidelity JSON backup or a flat CSV from Settings, and restore from either. No lock-in.
