PrivacyGuard does not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on external servers. Everything happens on your device.

No Data Collection

PrivacyGuard does not collect any personal data, usage data, or analytics of any kind. We have no servers that receive information from the app. The app contains no third-party analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking pixels.

On-Device Processing Only

All text scanning, PII detection, character analysis, and data redaction happen entirely on your device using local processing. Your text, files, and scan results never leave your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

No Network Calls

PrivacyGuard makes zero network requests. The app works entirely offline. There is no telemetry, no crash reporting service, and no remote configuration. You can verify this by using the app in Airplane Mode — it functions identically.

Local Storage

The app stores minimal data locally on your device:

Encryption keys (AES-256) are stored in the iOS/macOS Keychain, protected by your device’s hardware security.
Custom scan patterns, if you create any, are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and stored in the Keychain.
User preferences (such as onboarding completion) are stored in UserDefaults.

No data is stored in iCloud, no data is synced between devices, and no data is backed up to external services by the app.

iMessage Access (macOS Only)

On macOS, PrivacyGuard can optionally scan your local iMessage database to detect PII in your message history. This requires Full Disk Access in System Settings. The message data is read locally and never transmitted or stored outside the app’s scanning session.

No Account Required

PrivacyGuard does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use the app.

Children’s Privacy

Because we collect no data from anyone, we also collect no data from children. The app is safe for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version on our website with a new effective date. Policy changes will also be reflected in App Store release notes.
