Getting started

  1. Grant camera access when prompted — GrokLens can't analyze a photo without it.
  2. Tap a workflow on the home screen: Capture & Analyze, Scan & Extract, Photo Library, Document Scanner, Live Text, Batch Analysis, or Reimagine.
  3. Get a result. The on-device Vision pipeline (text recognition, barcodes, classification, faces, document edges, language) runs immediately. No internet required.
  4. Optional — enrich with cloud AI. Tap "Ask AI" on the result to send the image, prompt, and on-device summary to your selected provider (xAI / OpenAI / Anthropic / Gemini) using your own API key, or use Apple Intelligence if your device supports it.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I get an API key?

GrokLens supports four cloud providers. You only need a key for the one(s) you want to use:

Add the key in Settings → AI Providers. Keys are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device only.

Do I need an API key to use GrokLens?

No. The on-device Vision pipeline (OCR, barcodes, classification, face detection, document scan, Live Text, structured extraction) runs entirely on your device without any key or internet connection. Cloud AI is purely optional and labeled "Ask AI" wherever it appears.

How does the free tier work? What does Premium unlock?

The free tier allows up to 10 cloud-AI queries per day. The on-device features are unlimited and free. The one-time Lifetime unlock removes the daily limit and is purchased through Apple's In-App Purchase system.

I want a refund.

All in-app purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund directly through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't process refunds on Apple's behalf, but we're happy to help you understand any feature before you decide.

I bought Lifetime on another device — how do I restore?

Sign in to the same Apple ID, open Settings → Subscription in GrokLens, and tap Restore Purchases.

The capture button or back button is hidden behind the Dynamic Island / home indicator.

Make sure you're on the latest version of GrokLens (App Store → search GrokLens → Update). If the issue persists, screenshot the screen and email it to support@riteupai.com with your iPhone model and iOS version.

Live Text shows "Slow Down" or keeps re-detecting.

Tap the Freeze button at the bottom of the Live Text view to lock the recognized text in place — then Copy or tap Done. Hold the camera as steady as possible while you frame the text; the "Slow Down" indicator is a system message from iOS and stops once the camera is stable.

Reimagine isn't using my photo.

Reimagine requires Apple Intelligence and Image Playground, which are only available on supported devices running iOS 18.2 or later. If you don't see Reimagine on the home screen at all, your device or iOS version doesn't support it. If you do see it but it asks you to "describe" instead of using your photo, update to the latest GrokLens build.

How do I delete all my data?

In-app: Settings → LangExtract → Clear All History. To remove preferences, custom schemas, and API keys as well, delete the app from your home screen. None of your data is stored on our servers — there's nothing for us to delete remotely.

Does GrokLens upload my photos?

No. Photos and on-device analysis stay on your device. The only outbound traffic is when you tap "Ask AI" — and that traffic goes directly from your device to the AI provider you selected, not through us. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Voice prompts aren't transcribing.

Voice uses Apple's Speech framework. Make sure you've granted Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions in iOS Settings → GrokLens. Some languages run on-device; others require a network connection. Long-press the capture button to record a voice prompt.

OCR or extraction missed text.

Tap Edit on any extracted result to correct misread fields. For better accuracy, hold the camera steady, ensure good lighting, and try the Auto-Crop & Enhance toggle in Settings → On-Device Vision.
